In 1981, the German BFM backbone became the standard of care in COG protocols. The children's cancer group in the U.S., which is now part of COG, thought, well, you know, the Germans have really excellent outcomes with their BFM backbone. How does it compare to our current standard of care? So they randomized their high risk BALL patients in the study called the CCG-106 trial. And what they found was the BFM backbone was less toxic, but also more efficacious.
