The Destructive Quality of the Artist

We often talk about the creativity of the artist but there's also the destructive quality of the artist. Cézanne realized that he was just copying stuff, right? And that he was not creating anything new. He created an entire new language which looks kind of like a postcard to us now. But at that point, because the more that you destroy, right, the more that You're able to destroy of the rigid formality, the more free you are and the more you can create.
