Error Logs - Don't Just Say 'I Can't Start'
Watch out for those error handling code that's usually where lots of bugs and issues are going to happen. metrics are one of the most complex and powerful ways to monitor software you can get a lot done especially if you're looking at large scale systems production systems. You also need some real world experience with your specific application because numbers that can be awesome for one application can be terrible for another. Some of these lies in the business context in in the domain you're operating in and some of you just lies with the characteristics of your applications or various decisions you've made along the way.
