The author argues that people have evolved to be kind and welcoming. He says it's in the interests of those at the top, of those in power, for us to believe that people are naseand selfish. If you and i cannot trust each other, if people cannot trust each other,. then they need hierarchy. Then they need a ceo. They need a manager. They need a prime minister, a president. Why don't we just trust people themselves? To do their job? he asks.
