In classical zen, chinese zen chan and also in japanese zen, the discourse on mindfulness isn't emphasized that much. The traditional zen way is a little bit more open and flexible, although harder to grasp. Mindfulness really means remembering. So i always say, like, spiritual practice is like, really easy. The hard part is remembering to keep doing it. That's the hard part. To come back to the present, one of ticknan han's books was called the miracle of mindfulness. I think may be his first really supe popular book.
