Are You a Gerard Scholar?

Trevor Merrill: One of the things I've been planning to do on the podcast, and maybe even having like two or three people on to do it, is have a discussion about the atonement. Gerard says he has more of a Protestant understanding of the atonement that's like almost fully substitutionary as opposed to representative in toe atonement. But if you become a monastic Benedictine, you cannot own property. And so in a sense, there are places for you don't have to be celibate to be an Orthodox Catholic.
