The Mechanism of Resistance to Alzheimer's

The mice are still getting plaques and tangles in the brain, but they're not losing their memories. Bad beta amyloid molecules hijack our receptor, put it into overdrive and force pruning to happen at a higher rate. When we remove this break receptor molecule, this overdrive doesn't happen. The really neat thing that's exciting to us is that we find the same molecule in the human brain at synapses. That's something new that we're working on now.
