The Different Types of Religious Trauma

I like to talk about it being the place where our inner life meets our outer world. When that is done in a religious context, then I would say that is religious trauma. So there are a lot of members who sit in church and experience a physical reaction to something without connecting the dots really to what is causing that. And so I think that once people start to at least even make space for the idea that your religious experiences could cause you some trauma, we can begin to understand more about our own experiences sitting in the pews on Sunday sometimes.
