Objects in a Social World and Future Oriented Cognition

In the next five years or so, we were really going to be doing a lot more work looking at what our babies do when they're adding up objects or subtracting objects. Does it look like the way that we manipulate symbolic numbers, or does it look totally different? To answer these questions I think is really important because we think about babies early capacity to keep track of multiple objects. There are a lot of theories of learning that suggests that this is the root of how we learn symbolic math right children can leverage those early capacities to learn that you know the number, the symbol three maps onto this many things.
