Is It Time to Turn in on Oneself?

With amazon, one can be still in bed in their pyjamas and only see the things that they're interested in. I think there's something that the technology is doing that's creating a kind of isolation that i think is far more selfish than it is for people today. You have that beautiful passage from montaigne about when it becomes time to turn in on oneself and do more work. We must reserve a back shop all our own, entirely free, in which to establish our real liberty and our principal retreat and solitude. But we should not bind ourselves to them so strongly that our happiness depends on them.
