In the absence of any other clues, a facsimile was published in the National Press. Hundreds of copycat letters were sent to the Met and also the City of Police. All had to be followed up and discounted, wasting valuable police time. Neither Dear Boss nor Sausi Jackie are really now believed to have been written by the murderer at all.
