The Importance of Shame in the 21st Century
The 21st century has a deep seated allergic reaction to anything that sounds like judgment or condescension. We've gotten into the habit of just praising everything transgressive because of a latent, you know, discomfort with moral judgments. And so it's made it harder for people to make sense of their shame.
