What Really Makes Humans Change the World?

In many ways, it has to be said that in many ways we live in the golden age of humanity. The idea that I could get on an airplane and see you six hours from now to someone living in 1800 would have seemed a fantasy at the time. We use on a per person basis huge amounts of resources more than the Earth can sustain. At least half of the habitable area of the land surface of our planet is devoted to agriculture or grazing.
