Kael and Davenport: Did Palmyraians see themselves as part of the Roman Empire? Or do you think that they saw themselves as something separate and distinctive? The evidence of the inscriptions on the statues shows great pride in Roman titles. And certainly when we look at Zenobia, you can see how they are trying to assert at least some measure of independence against the Emporrelian.
