Imaging a Black Hole Event Horizon

The event horizon telescope is using radio waves to try to learn something about black holes. It can see a bright ring of emission from gas that's nearby, but a dull spot in the middle because there's no gas emitting towards you from that spot. So this is sort of like looking at Saturn without the planet. Leo: I hadn't thought about it that way, but yeah, it's like you can see a ring and there's nothing in the middle.
