I think in great part, this is that purity thing that we were talking about, right? They have decided what is pure and impure and whatever is impure. There is no benefit for them to engage with it because somehow it taints them. It's become this thing where people feel compelled to perform their allyship. That is your social currency. How well do you perform it determines how well you will be accepted. So I think that piece of you must step and use your privilege to play ally has done sadly more damage than good for thinking critically.
