Genesis chapter one is a unique when it comes to all creation stories ever known to human beings. It establishes where do human beings get their dignity? They don't get it from their own power or beauty, they get it from god's image and likeness. This is where the idea of human being having dignity come from. We don't get this from any other source except for christian belief that we are created in god's image  and likeness.
