The Importance of Studying Memory
I want to just very quickly talk about the importance of studying memory and working memory from a higher order perspective. I think it's important to have theories at a number of different levels. My concept of theories is that they're rather like maps. They're useful artifices, systems that help you to understand what you know and to ask questions about what you don't know. And so what you do is to try and encapsulate as much as possible and then extend it in different directions. The flexibility is pretty key for us as clinicians.
