The Light That God Brings Out of the Darkness

The light that god brought out of the darkness and formlessness of creation was the starting point, i think, not only for our conversations, but in a different way, maybe for the whole bible. We saw that the darkness of the egyptian plagues were our one true god trumped other gods that the egyptians were worshipping. And then we talked about the day of the lord and amos, and how it was a day that israel thought they were looking forward to because they thought they were in a right spot. They were doing what god wanted, and discovered, through god's words to the prophet amos, that they were on the wrong side of history.
