The History of Jesuit Drama

The Jesuits produced the largest body of dramatic literature in Europe throughout the 17th century. St Edmund Campion, Bambrosia is one of the earliest extant examples of Jesuit drama written by an Englishman. He was sent on a dangerous English mission to minister to the recusant Catholic community in Elizabethan England. In part two, we look at Campions, Ambrosia and how it became something like a hallmark of Jesuit theatre.
