The Egyptian government on Plaï and writer Mohammed Al-Mueli, for instance, was very critical of modern Western society. He wrote a book on ethics where he talks about what he calls the healing of the soul,. And he takes especially Socrates as a model. Even accused modern European philosophers of having distorted their Greek sources. So this seems to run right through the tradition. But not by Avicenna here, but directly going back to the U.S.
