The Importance of Performative Politics
There was a fair bit of what you might call performative politics in some of those meetings I thought. There had always been, when we talk about the kind of anti imperialist strain we see,. We know what an awkward position is for center left people to send to center right people in politics now that it's in the period of polarization. It completely incentivizes performative politics. You can't really say that slavery was not such a terrible thing because it's been made out to be.
