In the Puritan perspective, all Christians were not only pure in their doctrines and practices, but of one mind and one heart following one way. Purity implied uniformity, total agreement and absolute compliance with a single mode of piety and belief. Perry Miller's depiction of the Puritan worldview as it related to social and political matters is very close to what many people think today.
