Rights of Nature Are Easier, Right?
There's no sense that nature is eventually going to make its own demands. There is a world, at least in science fiction, but really not so far away, in which AI could actually make requests or make its own demand. So do rights come from entities demanding respect, which would be AI? Or is it about social movements? Does it require groups of humans to really organize and care about? And I think it's the latter. But in a way, we have a good test case. The AI could manipulate humans into forming a social movement on their behalf if it read my paper.
