Sceptrin and Trimethoprim: What You Need to Know
Dr. David Yerling: You can kill people with hyperklemia on the basis of adding Sceptrin. He says trimethoprim in the distal nephron is a potassium sparing dioratic. If you've got an older person who's on ACE or ARB and you put them on septra, his risk is about seven-fold higher than if they'd been on moxacillin. The main drugs there are going to be ACE inhibitors, angiotensin receptor blockers, and sphronolactone.
