Lenerlk: Witness accounts can be unreliable, so of course, take anythig an eye witness says with a grain of salt. But if they're talking to several different people independently, then it gives a little more credence to ifer somethin this close and this to take off and physically close to them. Note, they actually only got to about three 50 but from the witness perspective, they saw a takeoff, it appeared things stabilized for a bit, and then it descended.
