The Effect of Hunting Season Dates on Reproductive Parameters
A number of states have set back their Season dates because they perceive that that could be a problem and studies are being done right now to look at that. In Tennessee though, I can tell you that it is not a problem At least with regard to when the season opens in early May You know, we had experimental two-week delay in three of the counties and in the two control counties There was no delay well in those two years The percentage of nest in which at least one egg hatches Went up a little bit in the control counties. It also went up alittle bit in the treatment county So everything trended exactly the same way through two years And this is a two week delay.
