The Origins of the Ark Gene in Humans

The ark gene is extremely conserved in tetrapods so land animals. There's no fish gene and most invertebrates don't seem to have this gene either. We're trying to figure out whether there's other genes that perform similar functions or does ark confer something really unique that land animals needed to adapt to all the environments on land.
