Dorothy and Leslie's Essays on Race and Fear
Dorothy and Leslie's essays on race and fear seemed to focus on different things. But as I read along, it became increasingly clear that the two concepts fed off each other throughout American history. It all started in 1662 when Virginia passed a law regulating black women's childbearing. That allowed for white and slavers to profit from their sexual assaults of black women but also meant that black women were deemed to give birth to enslavable children.
