In medieval Irish literature, there were preserved memories or legends of invasions. From the indigenous people of Australia, their folklore does seem to preserve really, really, really distant memories. So I think on the one hand, you see that daily life was probably much more dependent on organic materials than the record shows us. We can't speculate because who knows how somebody made a tool out of wood? Who knows how they made their clothing if it just doesn't survive? The oldest mummy that soft tissue preserves is the Nevada cave spirit from 10,600 years old. That's not that long in the grand scheme of things that we've been talking about here.
