Redford agreed to make Indesa proposal for screen actors Guild Minimum in exchange for a percentage of the film's gross. Screenwriter Holden Jones implied that the changes, which the LA Times suggested, were done in the name of movie star Vanity, made the film less feminist. In fact, Redford ultimately ended up deciding that some of the changes to the script that he asked for were unnecessary. He didn't need lines to say; he just needed to play the emotions truthfully.
