"It really did impact me a lot. And i was surprised at how well he was able to speak to it and not be angry," she says of the film's director, James Baldwin. "He does speak about it in a very reflective and also seemingly integrated way." She adds that her generation is bridging two very different worlds - both with their own parents' violent upbringing as children; and then later on when they had kids themselves. 'The level of physicality that were that is deemed appropriate to have with children is so vastly different,' she writes.
