Henry James he was such a central figure in the history of novel writing you don't have to go far before you find that a writer that you admire was an admirer of Henry James. You might enjoy one of the short stories actually I would recommend the Beast and the Jungle but if you want to take on a whole novel there is always a portrait of a lady couple others that are as readable as that. If you've never read anything by James or it's been a while and you feel like you should read at least one or two things so you know what he's about those are some good choices maybe throw in one of the later works tackle that like the wings of the dove or what
