I have a friend who grew up in the apartheid state and she talked to me about the indoctrination that began at a very young age. She told me that it was common for sort of military reenactments or acting out as soldiers to take place in schools from a very early age. When I was in Palestine I witnessed the military accompanying school field trips so they'd be walking around town with their weapons like fully armed like accompanying school children which I found very bizarre. So I did find that very strange just the constant presence of the military in all aspects of daily life, everywhere you look.
