The Major Gaps in Antiretroviral Therapy
There's been a lot of progress made in terms of antiretrovirals. What do you see as the remaining major gaps in terms of therapy? One is actually not even in therapy it's just in recognizing HIV. In the United States 20% of people with HIV are diagnosed with a CD4 count of less than 200. That's way too late. You want to be diagnosing them when they have a close to normal CD4 count. We need new drugs for multi drug resistant HIV and one I want to alert people to which would be one of the first new classes of drugs for HIV.
