When Sophie Wilkins died in 2003, she kept everything. She didn't really look through them. But it was important for the listener and the reader to remember that this woman is engaging in this very inappropriate relationship with a man who she thinks that he didn't do it. It's very possible. And of course, now we know he did murder a teenage girl. They just didn't want to think about, well, maybe he did murder. Maybe he is capable of it. He writes so well.
