Are You Trying to Make Progress in the Future?

I hope for both sides. The way that I do it in the book is to say, well, we can hold on to this possibility or the idea of progress in the future as a moral political imperative. But we should also think about any and all claims we might make about what might count as progress as standing in need of being ongoingly problematized. That's one of the lessons of reading someone like Foucault, who famously said there is no outside to power.
