The Importance of Service in Race Relations
Iowa was asked to meet a chairman of the Human Relations Committee, Gastonia Gaston County. That was before integration. Iowa was sort of surprised because I was quite young. But we had an excellent committee. And I'd say that we did as well or better than any other county in the state. We integrated everything, for instance, eating in restaurants.
