What Is the Purpose of a Liberal Education in a Free Society?
i feel a little bit awkward because im going to go back to this editorial that i published in the new york times alongside jason stanley and thomas jornean williams and david french. The editorial itself is about these critical race theory bands that we've had so much debate about in this country. But it opens by asking a fundamental question, what is the purpose of a liberal education in a society like ours? What should an educational system do? We contend that a system of education that is just about indoctrination isn't compatible with the ideals of a free society.
