"I my read on it is that he he did always intend because he's very clear from the beginning," says director Tom Charity. "He definitely also has ulterior motives which we find out then that he's already fought with three of the samurai who were responsible for Motomi's death and kind of defeated them to disgrace them" The movie sets up an interesting sort of almost cone-like structure scenario that this movie is setting up, she adds.
