It is not enough for you to rest resigningly under the divine shadow. You must be able to tell why the darkness is here at all. There must exist in your life some special sin which has called down this penalty from heaven. Remember that if Job had been conscious of the special sin which his friends imputed to him, his suffering so far from meeting patience might have been a positive solace. Remorse craves a penalty.
