The History of Body Modification

The first historical record of a purely aesthetic tooth modification came in the seventh century b c. The etruscans would sometimes wear these gold bands around their teeth. And it was usually exclusively worn by women. Some people think t they were like primitive braces that actually might have been used to hold false teeth in place.
