I think this goes back to the same kind of spectrum thing that I was saying. You happen to get status for doing something that you also want to do for other reasons. And it's hard to disentangle whether you're doing it for those other reasons, or whether you’re doing it for the status. So one way of potentially disentangling this is a concept I first came across in critical thinking and A level. That's an entirely different one, which I think will join Rawls.
