The Sun Standing Still in Joshua Chapter 10
The story of the sun standing still in Joshua chapter 10 was used as an argument against Galileo. But it wasn't a battle of science versus faith, because what we had before was a Copernicus who discovered and made a claim that the earth revolved around the sun. In fact, the Pope who got into the kerfuffle with Galileo had previously been one of Galileo's patrons,. He had been supportive of Galileo's scientific research.
