The Role of Androgens in PCOS Diagnosis

The original NIH criteria for PCOS diagnosis was that the patient had to have hyperandrogenism, either clinically or biochemically. Then in 2003 came the Rotterdam consensus criteria. This required two of three possible things for diagnosis. ACOG recognizes all three of these different schemes, but most gynecologists use the RotterDam criteria because it seems to have the best performance.
