The Line Backers, the Middle Level of the Defense

Most defenses have three layers, or three lines, three types of positions. The first is called the line, the defensive line. These are usually the biggest guys on the defense. Their job is to push the offence back and break through and get the guy with the ball. They're also there at the front of the defence. That's the second layer - the offensive line.
