Is There a Different Account of Prayer?
There is a view that i have called secondary causal account of prayer. The view is basically this, petitionry prayers do not attempt persuade god to change his course of action by giving god reasons to act. Rather, petitionary prayers create a change in the praying agent and are the predestined means by which god enacts his decreed state of affairs. I think there are several intuitions that most, tha not most, but a lot of christians have about what prayer does. And i think it's really important for us to capture those intuitions and whatever account of petitioning prayer we give.
