The Relationship Between Literature and Religion
I think storytelling is as old as time itself and I think that from thousands of years ago people were entertaining each other by telling of gods. The narratives of both the American poems are incredibly sophisticated they go off in so many different directions. There was a real really strong religious dimension to the creation of these stories in the first place. You can imagine this kind of being like the final stupot if you like of ideas and stories that you've been told by lots of different people over time. It's just something I think people have done to make themselves happy just like people dance.
