In romans 15 paul calls upon what he calls the powerful, he calls them to make the first move and to humble themselves. What he says is to receive the non powerful on their own terms than to respect them on their terms. You really get the vision of how radical the so implications were of the unity in christ that paul was so passionate about. But for some reason, i don't know, paul's letters haven't been understood or read in that way, at least very often in the history of europe and america.
