Douglas Rushkoff: I think when you drill into this worldview, one of the characteristics of it is a kind of zero sum game that life is ultimately a kind of agonistic battle. He worked for several years in a inner city environment with children who had, by any standard were in profoundly difficult circumstances through absolutely no fault of their own. To be with them was to have a sense of their inner potential, their possibility, their talents and ways in which they were actually oppressed and maligned and maimed in the world.
